How the numbers work
Orders are aggregated and anonymized — no individual restaurant or customer is identifiable. Each taco type's price is total spend ÷ tacos ordered; taco types with fewer than 10 orders in a city that day are left out, and cities with fewer than two qualifying types are skipped. Recalculated daily at 4 AM Central for the prior day.

Methodology
The Taco Index tracks the average price of three core tacos — chicken, carne asada, and tacos al pastor — equally weighted across 100+ U.S. cities.
Data is sourced from orders placed through the Tacoter platform and partner restaurant menus. Each city's average is calculated from a minimum of 10 orders per taco type. Prices include tax.
