Understanding Confirmation and Undo

Understanding Confirmation and Undo

Welcome to Tacoter! We know you're busy running your restaurant, so we've designed our platform to be both powerful and forgiving. This guide will walk you through how "confirmation" ensures you're always in control, and how our "undo" feature helps fix things quickly if you change your mind.

What is "Confirmation" and Why is it Important?

Think of "confirmation" as your final approval. Many actions you take in Tacoter, especially those suggested by El Jefe Chat or involving important changes, won't go live until you give the green light. This two-step process (suggest/preview, then confirm) is there to protect your business from accidental changes and ensure everything is just right before it's published.

The Lifecycle of an Action:

Most actions in Tacoter follow a simple lifecycle:

  1. Pending Preview: This is the initial stage where a potential change or action is suggested (e.g., by El Jefe Chat) or you've initiated it. You'll see a summary of what's about to happen.
  2. Confirmed: Once you review the preview and click Confirm, the action is officially applied to your Tacoter account and goes live.
  3. Done: The action is completed.
  4. Cancelled/Expired: If you don't confirm a pending preview, it will eventually expire (usually after 15 minutes for El Jefe Chat suggestions) or you can choose to cancel it.

Every single step and change, from a pending preview to a confirmed action, is meticulously recorded in a history log within your Tacoter dashboard, so you always have a complete audit trail.

How to Confirm Actions

Here's how you'll typically confirm actions in Tacoter:

  1. Review the Preview Card: When El Jefe Chat suggests a change, or you initiate an action that requires confirmation, you'll see a preview card. This card clearly outlines what will happen if you proceed. [[screenshot: Preview card showing proposed changes]]
  2. Make Your Decision:
  3. If you're happy with the proposed change, click the Confirm button on the preview card. The change will then be applied.
  4. If you're not ready, or don't want the change, you can often click Dismiss or simply let the preview card expire (for El Jefe Chat suggestions). Unconfirmed previews from El Jefe Chat expire after 15 minutes.

Understanding and Using "Undo"

We all make mistakes or change our minds! Tacoter's "undo" feature is designed to give you peace of mind, allowing you to reverse most recent actions quickly.

What Can Be Undone?

For most immediate changes you make, such as:

  • Updating menu items
  • Adjusting prices
  • Changing hours of operation
  • Modifying customer notes
  • Pausing or resuming campaigns

...you'll find an Undo button readily available on the completed action card in your dashboard.

When Can You Undo?

You have a generous window to undo most changes:

  • The Undo button typically works within 24 hours of the action being confirmed. After 24 hours, the option may no longer be available.

How to Undo an Action

  1. Navigate to Your Dashboard: Sign in to your Tacoter account at tacoter.com/signin and go to your Dashboard at tacoter.com/dashboard.
  2. Locate the Action Card: On your dashboard, you'll see a list of recent actions. Find the specific action you wish to reverse. [[screenshot: Dashboard showing an action card with an Undo button]]
  3. Click Undo: If the action is eligible for undo (within the 24-hour window and not impacted by newer edits), you'll see an Undo button on the action card. Click it.
  4. Confirmation of Undo: Tacoter will confirm that the action has been reversed.

Important Considerations for Undo:

  • Changes Since Original Action: If something significant has changed since your initial action (e.g., you updated a menu item's price, then later updated its description), undoing the price change might be refused to protect the newer description edit. Tacoter intelligently tries to prevent conflicts.
  • Drafts and Job Listings: For items like campaign drafts or job listings, the undo feature doesn't apply. Instead, you'll manage these directly within your Dashboard by deleting or editing them.
  • Bulk Actions: When performing bulk actions (which can include up to 500 individual changes), the Undo feature is an "all-or-nothing" proposition. You'll undo all the individual changes that were part of that specific bulk action, not just a selection of them. Tacoter always lists every individual change for your approval before you confirm a bulk action.

El Jefe Chat: Your Reactive Assistant

Remember, El Jefe Chat (accessible from the chat icon bottom-right on any dashboard page) is your go-to for quick assistance and making changes. It speaks English or Spanish based on your preferences. Any changes El Jefe Chat suggests will always appear as a preview card first, requiring your explicit Confirm before they go live. If you don't confirm, these suggestions expire after 15 minutes.
