Changing Your Domain

Having a memorable web address for your taqueria is important for your customers! This guide will walk you through how to change your Tacoter web address to something that truly reflects your business.

Currently, your Tacoter website has a free web address that looks like yourname.tacoter.com. While this works great, you might want to adjust the "yourname" part to something more specific or easier to remember. Let's get it updated!

How to Change Your Web Address

It's a simple process to update the part of your Tacoter web address that comes before .tacoter.com. Follow these steps:

  1. Log into your Tacoter Dashboard. This is where you manage everything for your restaurant, from orders to marketing. Just use your usual login details.

  1. Navigate to Settings. Once you're in the Dashboard, look for a menu item or button labeled Settings. It's usually found on the left-hand side or at the top right of your screen. Click on it.
  2. Find the Domain or Web Address section. Within Settings, you'll see various options. Look for a section related to your website, domain, or web address. It might be clearly labeled "Web Address" or "Domain Settings."

  1. Enter your new desired web address. You'll see a field displaying your current web address, like yourname.tacoter.com. You can edit the yourname part. Type in your new preferred name. For example, if your taqueria is "El Fuego," you might try elfuego.tacoter.com or elfuegotacos.tacoter.com.
  2. Important: This new name (your "subdomain") needs to be available. If someone else is already using elfuego.tacoter.com, you'll get a message letting you know it's taken. You'll need to try a different variation.
  3. Save your changes. After you've entered your new web address and confirmed it's available, look for a Save or Update button at the bottom of the section or page. Click it to apply your changes.

That's it! Your Tacoter website will now be accessible at your new address.

What to do After Changing Your Web Address

When you change your web address, your old links will no longer work. Think of it like moving your restaurant to a new street address – you need to tell everyone!

  • Update Printed Materials: Check your business cards, menus, flyers, and any other printed materials where your old web address might appear. Order new ones with your updated link.
  • Update Social Media Profiles: Go through all your social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Google My Business, Yelp, etc.) and update the website link to your new yournewname.tacoter.com address.
  • Inform Your Customers: Consider making a quick post on social media to let your loyal customers know about your new, easy-to-remember web address.
  • Email Signature: Don't forget to update your email signature if it includes your website link.

Tips

  • Keep it short and memorable: The shorter and easier to type, the better for your customers.
  • Reflect your brand: Try to use your restaurant's name or a key part of it.
  • Check availability: Have a few ideas ready in case your first choice is already taken.
  • Test it out: After saving, open a new browser tab and type in your new web address to make sure it works perfectly.
