Setting Up Automations
Hey there, amazing taqueria owner! We know you're busy crafting delicious food and delighting your customers. That's why we've made it super easy to set up "set-it-and-forget-it" messages that keep your customers coming back for more, all without you lifting a finger after the initial setup.
Automations are like having a friendly, tireless marketing assistant who sends personalized messages to your customers at just the right time. These messages can be sent via email or even SMS, depending on your customer's preferences and your setup. Let's get you started!
What Are Automations?
Think of automations as smart, pre-scheduled messages that go out automatically when certain things happen. For example, when a new customer places their first order, or when it's their birthday, or even if they haven't ordered from you in a while. They're designed to keep your taqueria top of mind and encourage repeat business.
Turning On Your Automations
Getting your automations up and running is a quick process. Here's how to do it:
- Log in to your Tacoter Dashboard. This is your command center for everything Tacoter.
- Navigate to "Email" or "SMS". On the left-hand side menu, you'll see options like "Email" and potentially "SMS" if you have that feature enabled. Click on one of these to start.
- Click on "Automations". Within the Email or SMS section, you'll find a clear link or button labeled "Automations." This is where all your automated magic happens.
- Browse Available Automations. You'll see a list of pre-built automation types. These might include:
- Welcome After First Order: A warm thank-you message to new customers.
- Birthday Message: A special treat or greeting for your customers' birthdays.
- Win-Back Automation: A friendly reminder for customers who haven't ordered in a while.
- And others designed to fit common scenarios.
- Select an Automation to Activate. Click on the automation you'd like to turn on.
- Toggle "On". Each automation will have a simple switch or button to "Turn On" or "Activate" it. Click this to enable it. It will usually be clearly visible at the top or side of the automation's details.
Customizing Your Message
Once an automation is turned on, you'll want to make it sound like your taqueria.
- Find the Message Editor. After turning an automation on, you'll typically be taken to or see a section to "Customize Message" or "Edit Content."
- Write Your Message. Here, you can type in your unique message. Keep it warm, friendly, and true to your brand!
- Pro Tip: You can often use special tags (like
[CustomerName]) that Tacoter will automatically fill in with your customer's details, making the message super personal. - Add a Special Offer (Optional). Want to sweeten the deal? This is a great place to include a discount code, a free item offer, or a mention of your new menu item to encourage them to order again.
- Save Your Changes. Don't forget to hit the "Save" or "Update" button once you're happy with your message.
Reviewing Your Results
After your automations have been running for a bit, you'll want to see how well they're doing.
- Go back to the "Automations" section.
- Look for "Results" or "Reporting". Next to each active automation, you'll often see an option to view its performance. This might show you things like how many messages were sent, how many customers opened them, and even how many placed an order because of it.
- Adjust and Optimize. Based on your results, you can always go back and tweak your messages or offers to see if you can get even better engagement!
Tips
- Keep it brief: Especially for SMS, short and sweet messages work best.
- Be authentic: Let your taqueria's personality shine through in your messages.
- Offer value: A small discount or a heads-up about a new special can make a big difference.
- Don't overdo it: Space out your messages so customers don't feel spammed. Our pre-built automations are designed to prevent this!
- Check often: Pop into your dashboard every now and then to see how your automations are performing and if you need to update any offers.
